ArmYouth Blog's new location!

Ahhh after finally getting frustrated with some of the limitations of Wordpress, I have decided to move ArmYouth Blog onto Blogspot - which now allows for more ability to change the template itself.

Of course, the first banner I added was the Armenian Genocide wrist band banner. As you can see, Maral at The Armenian Affairs Blog had emailed many of us to include this banner on their website. Should you also be interested to include it, please email me (tamarpalandjian@yahoo.com ) and I will forward you the information.

It seems as though many other Armenian bloggers such as Armenian Affairs, Inch es asum?! , Myrthe's "Life as I see it", Martuni or Bust!!! and Voch Me Ban had already caught onto the fact that this from the very start. I, unfortunately, was a bit slower in figuring these capabilities out sooo here it goes with Blogspot! happy reading...

ahh, sorry but there is a slight technical problem with the Armenian Genocide banner.

if you are not able to open the site from the banner, please visit http://www.armenian-genocide.org/

in the meantime, I apologize for the inconvenience

Blogsome is far better than blogspot. The latter is not very reliable. I've used all three, and each has its merits, but the fastest and most reliable one by far is Blogsome.

There's nothing wrong with Wordpress. In fact, as a platform it's far in advance of Blogspot. It's absolutely fantastic if you run it on your own server and add your own plug-ins especially.

The problem, however, is not Wordpress, but rather the implementation of Wordpress on Wordpress.com.

As Freedom says, the implementation of Wordpress on Blogsome is a lot better and does allow for customizing templates and lots more.

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WordPress for more details.

Still, having Wordpress on your own server is really the way to go. Then, blogging becomes a whole new world.

Onnik, I think she means Wordpress.com not Wordpress per se. ;) Wordpress.com doesn't allow you to edit the templates/stylesheets.

hey Freedom, thanks for ur comments i appreciate your advice. as you did mention, i did mean wordpress.com. i did not have the ability to change the template there and that's why wordpress.com was limiting the sites capabilities.

Right, although that doesn't explain moving to Blogspot instead of a better implementation of Wordpress.

Anyway, from speaking to Zarchka about the same issue a few months ago, I don't think Tamar did know or otherwise why the move away from the platform?

Well, I suppose Wordpress template are more difficult to understand that Blogspot templated, but anyway, it's okay, I suppose until you need to expand a site into something bigger.

Anyway, I advised both Tamar and Zarchka not to use Wordpress.com, but...

Onnik, indeed. I very much regret using wordpress.com! But it's too late for me to move blogs now (referring to my Middle East blog not the Armenian one), but I'm glad that at least the Armenian one is on blogsome.

Onnik,

please if you don't have positive criticism, i would appreciate it if you just not comment on this blog. it seems all you want to do is continue to attack ArmYouth Blog every chance you get. I do not comment on your blog, nor do I want to.

So UNLESS YOU SEE INCORRECT INFORMATION or anything that is on this blog which would NEED TO BE CRITICIZED instead of constantly commenting your negativeness as usual- i would appreciate it if you kept your comments to yourself.

thank you and have a nice day

tamar
